Travelers can find relevant information on Tourism in Davao City Philippines. Davao is a municipality in Mindanao in the Philippines. Davao City is located at southern Philippines and the city has been named as the second oldest city in the country after Davao City in Mindanao. It is the capital of Davao Oriental province and also known as the town of Peace and Democracy. Davao City is also famous as the place where Islamic culture is emphasized in the Philippines. Davao City is the main tourist attraction in Davao Oriental and also known as the place where Philippine National Police is headquartered. The city has great diversity. The city is world renowned for rich cultural heritage and the culture has inspired writers and painters. Davao city is famous for various activities such as rice growing, pearl and coconut farming, and also silk and rice textiles.

* The famous town of Davao – the culture center of the Philippines – is truly the cultural center of the Philippines. The city of Davao is best known for its ancient town of Baguio, the Philippines’ oldest city and the place where Spaniards first landed in the Philippines. The great Manila Zoo, the world famous DisneySea, and the World Wide Link are also in Davao City.

* The rich culture of Davao can be seen in the variety of dance forms, including the bagpipes, taiko drummers, and the kinakata, an indigenous dance form of Davao City. The drummers can be seen in the Baguio Dance and the kinakata can be seen in the Makati Festival.

* The Baguio Dance is one of the oldest dance forms of the Philippines and it has influenced the kinakata in Davao City. The Baguio Dance is still one of the most beautiful dance forms in the Philippines and the dance has touched the hearts of Filipinos all over the world.

There is also more to Davao City than the sights and the culture. Davao City is also known as the place where Davao Death Squad is best known and infamous. Davao Death Squad is one of the biggest scandals in Philippine history. The death squad was led by Gov. Jose Luis “Kong” Pimentel and was responsible for killing up to 100 people for supposedly being communist.

* Pimentel was president of the Philippines from 1965 to 1981 and he was also vice president of the Philippines from 1965 to 1968. He was also president of the Philippine Social Nationalist Party.

* It is also well-known that between 1965 and 1969, he invited and received communist leaders from China and had them participate in the drafting of the penal code. (These days, he is serving his life sentence in a Philippine prison.)

* His wife, who was one of the members of the group, is currently serving a life term for her involvement in the Davao Death Squad.

The Death Squad was started by Piementel to be extrajudicial killings and it continued for 13 years after he stepped down from the presidency.

The Davao Death Squad is an important part of the history of Davao City and it remains to this day to be one of the biggest scandals in Philippine history. It is even to this day to be one of the things that the people want to get rid of. (In the 2004 presidential elections, the death squad is one of the issues that are considered by the Filipinos to want to remove the president from the position. But, because of the strong ties between the people and the president, the Filipinos will not allow him to be ousted from the post.)

One of the victims was former senator Romeo Binay. (Even the mayor of Davao City, a relative, has been sentenced for his involvement in the group.) But the most important part of this whole case is that at least 6 police officers and at least 21 persons in various positions have been prosecuted, and 4 of these persons are in jail. (One of the prosecutors, meanwhile, has been convicted.)

But, the biggest question is: Why did the country have to pay for this? Why was it so difficult to get rid of the Davao Death Squad?

Is it because the person who started the case against the Davao Death Squad was a police officer? Is it because the person who was president of the Philippine Republic was part of this group? Or is it because the person who is the president now has been convicted for his part in this group?

It’s because President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (the niece of former president Jose E.B. Arroyo) was a member of this group and she is now serving her life term in prison for her involvement in the group.

So, in answer to your question, no, the country has not paid for the involvement of its current president, and no, it will not pay for the involvement of its former president, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. But, how come it is so hard to get rid of the Davao Death Squad?
